EnBW has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 50 MW of power from the 900 MW He Dreiht offshore wind farm with the Stuttgart-based technology and services company, Robert Bosch GmbH (Bosch).
The output is equivalent to around 200 gigawatt-hours of electricity per year. The power purchase agreement (PPA) runs for a term of 15 years starting in 2026.
The He Dreiht wind farm will be built about 90 kilometres northwest of Borkum and around 110 kilometres west of Helgoland in the German North Sea, and is scheduled to enter operation at the end of 2025.
EnBW secured the contract in 2017 in the first offshore tendering process in Germany with a zero-cent bid and is building the wind farm without state funding.
”PPAs can be drawn up on an individual basis and they enable companies to consistently implement their sustainability goals. And for us, they are an important element in realizing projects in the field of renewable energies,” said Markus Quack , from EnBW’s Trading unit, who helped to draw up the contract.
He Dreiht will comprise a total of 64 Vestas turbines with an individual output of 15 MW. EnBW plans to make the final investment decision on the project in the first quarter of 2023.
EnBW has previously signed PPA agreements for He Dreiht with Evonik, separately for 100 MW and 50 MW , Fraport AG for 85 MW , and Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH for 50 MW .
