The SOV is expected to begin operations at the wind farm, located 27 kilometres of the Angus Coast, in the coming weeks.

The vessel, launched in 2021, has an accommodation capacity of up to 60 people, a motion-compensated gangway system, and will feature a propulsion system that allows for future installation of zero-emission hydrogen technology.

Built in 2022, the SOV will help support safer and more efficient operations and will visit Montrose Port, the wind farm’s operations and maintenance base, every two weeks throughout the 15-year contract.

Produced by Norwegian offshore wind service vessel company Edda Wind, Edda Brint secured a 15-year contract with Vestas to perform operation and maintenance work for Scotland’s largest offshore wind farm.

The Seagreen offshore wind farm is owned by SSE Renewables and TotalEnergies, with SSE leading the development and construction, as well as the operation, once the wind farm is completed.

Once completed, the wind farm will consist of 114 Vestas V164-10.0 MW turbines and will be capable of generating around 5,000 GWh of renewable energy annually which is enough to power more than 1.6 million UK homes.
