Leading offshore wind developer Ørsted has issued a call for competition for the transport and installation of foundations and offshore substations for the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm in Poland.
Ørsted plans to use the Achilles Utilities NCE qualification system for procurement and expects to commence the tender in May/June 2023.
Suppliers may apply for qualification at any time. To apply, the suppliers must complete an order form and pay in advance an annual qualification fee ranging from EUR 220 to EUR 985.
In addition, the developer issued a separate call for competition for the landfall horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and associated works.
Ørsted will use the UNCE qualification system for procurement and expects to launch the tender via said qualification system as early as week 27 of 2023 (from 3 July until 9 July).
The scope consists of all activities necessary to complete the construction of four HDDs for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm.
The Baltica offshore wind farm, with a capacity of up to 2.5 GW, will be developed in two stages, namely Baltica 2 and Baltica 3.
Baltica 2 is slated for commissioning in 2027, and the closing of financing for this investment is planned for next year.
A few weeks ago, PGE and Ørsted chose Siemens Gamesa’s 14 MW wind turbines to be installed on top of the foundations.
The Baltica 2+3 Offshore Wind Farm has already obtained the environmental decision for the offshore wind farm in January 2020. In addition, the project has obtained the location decisions (PSC) and the connection agreements to the transmission network with the operator (PSE), and has been granted the right to a differential contract (CfD).
The project will be developed in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea between Łeba and Ustka while the closest wind turbines to the shore will be at least 25 kilometres, according to PGE and Ørsted, the developers of the wind farm.
