Siemens Gamesa has selected Køge Port in Denmark as the planned location for the pre-assembly and installation of wind turbines for the Aflandshage offshore wind farm.
The Aflandshage offshore wind farm will feature up to 26 Siemens Gamesa’s SG 11.0-200 DD offshore wind turbines with an individual capacity of between 9.5 MW and 11 MW, and a combined capacity of between 247 MW and 286 MW.
An agreement between the Port of Køge and Siemens Gamesa means that a larger land area at the Port of Køge will be used for related activities, HOFOR said, the developer of the offshore wind farm. The agreement includes reinforcement and expansion of both the quay and the area behind it.
“With this agreement, we are creating a completely new foundation for development within the green transition. This means that Køge will benefit from the jobs that will be created in this connection – and that we in Køge will become experts in precisely the part that is about installing wind turbines on land”, said Marie Stærke , Mayor of Køge Municipality.

The developer, HOFOR (Greater Copenhagen Utility), applied for the wind farm through the open-door scheme which was suspended by the Danish Energy Agency in February saying that this permitting scheme was potentially in breach of EU law.
A month later, the agency announced that it resumes the processing of the Aflandshage wind project.
The installation of the wind turbines, which will be done by Cadeler, will begin in 2026. The Danish wind farm installation vessel owner and operator said that the gravity-based foundations will be placed on the seabed surrounded by large stones to create an artificial stone reef that can foster local biodiversity and marine life.
