The UK government has set a target for 50 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030 – at present there is around 27 GW in operation or in receipt of a CfD contract.
“The UK has really ambitious plans for offshore wind. If we want to reach 50 gigawatts by 2030, we really need overseas investment to help us achieve that as well as manufacturers to come into the UK. Of course, Mingyang is one of the biggest turbine manufacturers in the world, so we are particularly keen to support their UK presence ,” said Chris Hay , Head of Renewable Energy Trade Investment in China for the Department of Business and Trade UK.
