The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) has granted Vattenfall an electricity production permit for the Vesterhav Syd and Nord offshore wind farms.
The electricity production licence, which is granted before a wind farm is put into operation, is issued in accordance with Section 29 of the Act on the Promotion of Renewable Energy, said DEA.

The two electricity production permits are valid for 25 years from the time of grid connection, which is the time when the first kWh is delivered to the collective electricity grid from the offshore wind farms.
Vesterhav Syd and Nord offshore wind farms will have a capacity of 170 MW and 180 MW, respectively.
Vesterhav Syd will consist of 20 8.4 MW Siemens Gamesa offshore wind turbines while Vesterhav Nord will feature 21 units of the same type, all of which will be installed by Jan De Nul .

The offshore wind farms will have a combined capacity of 350 MW and will produce renewable energy equivalent to the annual consumption of 375,000 households.
The wind farms are located off the West Jutland coast.
Vesterhav Syd’s wind turbines will stand between 9-10 kilometres off the coast at Hvide Sande and Søndervig, while Vesterhav Nord’s turbines will be installed between 5.5 and 8.4 kilometres off the coast at Harboøre.
The Danish Energy Agency approved the construction of the two projects in December 2020 while the commissioning of the wind farms is expected by the end of 2023.
