Glamox has won a contract from Denmark’s Bladt Industries to provide lighting for 176 wind turbine transition pieces (TPs) for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project in the US.

Glamox will provide 2,850 of its new Glamox MIR G2 WOF linear LED luminaires, specially designed for marine and offshore wind applications, that will be fitted to the exterior and interior of the wind turbine transition pieces.

The units will be installed during fabrication by subcontractor Scanel International.

In 2021, Bladt Industries signed a contract with Dominion Energy, the owner and developer of the CVOW project, for the supply of TPs.

The TPs will be installed by DEME Offshore on top of the monopiles set to be delivered by EEW SPC, which will together support 176 Siemens Gamesa’s 14 MW wind turbines .

Located 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach, the CVOW project will be the largest offshore wind farm in the US.

CVOW is estimated to create approximately 900 jobs, generate USD 5 million per year in local and state tax revenue and USD 143 million in economic benefits annually during construction.

Expected to be completed by the end of 2026, the offshore wind project will generate 2.6 GW of clean energy, enough to power 900,000 homes.
