Renewable energy consultancy OWC has been subcontracted by Denmark-based DHI to offer specialist bid advisory services to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). The services include assessing the wind potential for the IJmuiden Ver Offshore Wind Farm Zone in the Dutch North Sea.

The IJmuiden Ver Offshore Wind Farm Zone has been divided into three sites: Alpha (formerly I-II), Beta (III-IV), and Gamma (V and VI).
The Dutch government will open the application period for the first two sites, IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Beta tender, on 29 February 2024 and will accept proposals until 5 p.m. on 28 March. Tendering for the Gamma wind farm site will be in 2025.
The objective of OWC’s scope of work was to support DHI and the Dutch authorities in defining the wind resource potential at identified sites.
The company’s office in Germany, with support from consultants based in Rotterdam, conducted the work for the RVO.

The three wind sites are located 62 kilometres off the west coast of the Netherlands, each of which can house approximately 2 GW of installed offshore wind capacity.
Grid operator TenneT will build three grid connections in the area, with three platforms that will have a 2 GW direct current connection to a land station. These are the first offshore wind farms in the Netherlands to be connected with a direct current connection.
