First revealed in 2021, the total installation capacity of the offshore wind farm is planned to be 350 MW and is expected to be completed in 2029.
To engage in the fast-growing Taiwan renewable energy market, Iberdrola set up an office in Taipei in 2021 as a base for its expanding APAC footprint.
Iberdrola Taiwan is currently developing two offshore wind projects totalling up to 1 GW in installation capacity for Taiwan’s Zonal Development Round 3.2 selection, according to the company’s website.
As previously reported, Iberdrola revealed three new offshore wind development projects in Taiwan with a combined potential capacity of approximately 6 GW.
The projects are named Da-Chung Bu Offshore Wind (大中部離岸風電), Guo-Feng Offshore Wind (果豐離岸風電), and Ju-Dao Offshore Wind (菊島離岸風電) and will be located in the county waters of Taichung, Changhua, and Penghu on the west coast of Taiwan.
At the end of 2022, the Spanish company had 1,258 MW of offshore wind capacity in operation and 5,500 MW under construction or secured with long-term contracts.
Iberdrola has committed to new growth platforms such as Poland, Sweden, Ireland, the US, Brazil, and Japan, which has allowed the company’s offshore wind portfolio to now exceed 30 GW, according to the firm.
