The monopiles for both offshore wind projects are manufactured by Steelwind in Nordenham and Bladt Industries A/S’s Lindø factory in Denmark.
This year, the 11-megawatt SG 11.0-200 DD offshore wind turbines will be installed on the foundations for the first time in Germany.
Gode Wind 3 is expected to be commissioned in 2024 with Borkum Riffgrund 3 coming online the following year.
South Fork Wind Turbine Installation in Home Stretch
In November 2023, the first of South Fork Wind’s twelve Siemens Gamesa wind turbines was hoisted into place by the offshore construction team at the project site 35 miles (approximately 56 kilometres) off Montauk, New York.
The installation of the wind turbines is being carried out by Van Oord’s offshore installation vessel Aeolus which is currently located at the construction site, according to the AIS data.
The 132 MW South Fork Wind started delivering its first power to New York State’s grid at the end of last year.

Once complete, South Fork Wind, New York’s first offshore wind farm, will produce enough electricity to power about 70,000 Long Island homes.
The renewable energy from the project will eliminate up to six million tonnes of carbon emissions each year, the equivalent of taking 60,000 cars off the road, according to the project’s developers.
