Vard Inks CSOV Deal with Taiwanese Mystery Client

Norway’s Vard has signed a contract with an undisclosed Taiwanese customer for the design and construction of two Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs).

The customer has appointed Vard to build two CSOVs of VARD 4 39 design which is a new design from the Fincantieri-owned company, envisioned as a highly versatile all-round platform for wind farm support operations.

The first vessel will be built, outfitted, commissioned, and delivered in the fourth quarter of 2026 , with the second planned in the first quarter of 2027 .

The ships, which can be utilised as a service vessel for the wind farms and for the building and installation phase, are prepared with a large external deck and a hull shape that both supports the fuel-efficient CSOV operation and future integration of a modular power and fiber optic cable-lay and repair spread, according to Vard.

Latest news

The approximately 102.7-metre-long vessels will feature a battery package for hybrid propulsion, a fully-electric crane, a walk-to-work- gangway system, and shore connection capabilities, and will be prepared for future fuels.

The CSOVs will have an aggregated hotel capacity of 120 persons, of which 90 are allocated in large single cabins.

In terms of other recent news coming from Vard, the company recently signed a contract with Navigare Capital Partners for the design and construction of one CSOV, which will be of VARD 4 19 design.
