Denmark’s Port of Roenne has been selected as the installation port for the Baltic Power offshore wind project in the Polish Baltic Sea.
Baltic Power will be one of the first European offshore wind projects to use Vestas’ new 15 MW wind turbine which until now has only been installed as a prototype at the Østerild National test centre in Western Jutland, Denmark.

The 1.2 GW offshore wind farm will feature 76 Vestas V236-15.0 MW wind turbines. Out of a total of 76 units, 52 are planned to have towers with top sections manufactured by ArcelorMittal using low-emission steel.
The Baltic Power offshore wind farm, developed by a joint venture between PKN Orlen and Northland Power, will be built approximately 22 kilometres off the Polish coast near Plaża Wydmy Lubiatowskie.
Delivery of the Vestas wind turbines is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025, with commissioning expected in 2026. The units will be installed by Cadeler, under a contract signed with the Baltic Power joint venture in July 2023.
Baltic Power is scheduled to enter commercial operation in the latter half of 2026. Once operational, the offshore wind farm will provide clean energy to over 1.5 million Polish households.
