For the Navantia-Windar consortium, this is the second contract for monopiles with Iberdrola and the fourth contract for the manufacture of monopiles to date.
The partners will produce the monopiles at the monopile factory operated by Navantia Seanergies and Windar Renovables at the Navantia shipyard in Fene.

According to a press release from Navantia, issued on 16 July, the manufacturing of the 21 monopiles will take 420,000 hours over 10 months, generating around 210 jobs between Navantia, Windar and their supply chain.
With this new contract, Navantia Seanergies-Windar Renovables adds a new contract to those previously awarded for a value of over EUR 1 billion across a nine-year relationship with Iberdrola, with orders for the developer’s offshore wind farms in the UK, Germany, France and the US, according to Navantia.
Located in the Baltic Sea next to the island of Rügen, the 315 MW Windanker offshore wind farm will comprise 21 Siemens Gamesa 15 MW wind turbines.
Iberdrola took the final investment decision (FID) for Windanker at the end of June, when the company said the project had now advanced to the delivery phase with the manufacturing work planned to start in July.
