On 21 August, Polenergia announced that the projects now received all the required construction permits.
The Pomeranian Voivodeship has issued a total of 17 permits for Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3, which include the installation of 100 wind turbines and 2 offshore power stations in the Baltic Sea, the laying of export and internal cables, and the installation of 2 onshore stations with infrastructure.
With these authorisations in place, Polenergia and Equinor are one step away from building the offshore wind farms, according to the developers.
The Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms will have a total capacity of 1,440 MW and be able to supply over 2 million households with green energy, Polenergia said.
The preparatory works on land will begin this year and the first electricity from both wind farms is expected to flow in 2027, with the projects’ commercial operation scheduled for 2028.
The Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind projects already obtained all environmental decisions, along with connection agreements. In 2021, the wind farms were awarded contracts for difference (CfDs) by the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) under the first phase of Poland’s offshore wind development scheme.
After the two 1.4 GW projects, Equinor and Polenergia plan to also build the Bałtyk 1 offshore wind farm . This third project is planned to have an installed capacity of up to 1,560 MW.
