The new model has undergone more than 2,000 tests on materials, components, subsystems, whole machines, digital twins, as well as the verification mechanism to ensure the stable operation of the unit in severe sea conditions, the company said in October.
In 2023, Goldwind, in cooperation with China Three Gorges (CTG), installed a 16 MW wind turbine with a 252-metre rotor at the site of of CTG’s Zhangpu Liuao offshore wind farm in Fujian Province. At the time, this was the biggest wind turbine installed, until Mingyang installed its 16 MW turbine with a 260-metre rotor at an onshore test site.
