The two vessels were deployed to install the wind turbines at Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore sites consecutively as Ørsted is building the two projects concurrently. For the two combined projects, Cadeler has transported and installed 48 and Seaway7 58 Siemens Gamesa 11 MW turbines.
With a capacity of 913 MW, Borkum Riffgrund 3 will become Germany’s largest offshore wind farm once fully operational.

The wind farm’s commercial operation date has been moved to early 2026 as TenneT has yet to complete the DolWin5 offshore grid connection that will link Borkum Riffgrund 3 to the German grid on land.
The offshore grid was planned to be ready by the time Borkum Riffgrund 3 was built, however, due to a knock-on effect of the challenges brought by the Covid pandemic in Singapore, where the DolWin epsilon platform was built, the transmission system operator expects to install the platform in the German North Sea in autumn this year and have it in service by 2026. TenneT is compensating Ørsted for this delay.
