Deep Wind Offshore Korea has secured a Public Waters Occupancy and Use Permit for its Admiral Lee offshore wind project in South Korea.
“This achievement marks an essential step forward in our mission to advance renewable energy development in South Korea. The permit allows us to complete offshore lidar measurements, a critical component in assessing wind resources and ensuring the project’s success,” said John Kang , Country Manager for Deep Wind Offshore Korea.
The up to 1.5 GW Admiral Lee offshore wind project is located on the south coast of South Korea.
According to the company’s website, the area offers good wind resources and shallow water conditions, enabling a cost-efficient development with monopile turbine foundations in close proximity to large industrial load centres, ports, and fabrication infrastructure.
Deep Wind Offshore, an international developer and owner of offshore wind farms, works in partnership with BP on projects in South Korea.
In 2022, the company secured site exclusivity for gigawatt-scale offshore wind development in the Southern Sea in South Korea.
