Siemens Gamesa and HAROPA-Port of Le Havre have signed key agreements for the establishment of an offshore wind turbine production plant at the Port of Le Havre.

The construction of the turbine production plant is expected to start mid-2020. The facility will be utilised to supply the Dieppe-Le Tréport, Saint Brieuc, and Yeu-Noirmoutier offshore wind projects with a combined capacity of around 1.5GW.

The plant is expected to create 750 direct and indirect jobs and is described as the largest industrial investment in the history of renewable energy in France.

The agreements signed between Siemens Gamesa and HAROPA-Port of Le Havre have a duration of 30 years and will see the turbine maker utilise a total area of 36 hectares between the Joannès Couvert and Hermann du Pasquier quays at the Port of Le Havre.

Siemens Gamesa also intends to use the area to carry out project installation activities in France.
