Cadeler’s wind turbine installation vessel Wind Osprey has undergone seafastening mobilisation and is now ready to head to the Netherlands to start installing turbines on the 1.5 GW Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore wind farm.
Wind Osprey is expected to leave the Port of Esbjerg in Denmark in a few days and head to Sif’s Maasvlakte site in the Port of Rotterdam to load the first sets of Siemens Gamesa 11 MW wind turbines.
With a rotor diameter of 200 metres, and a total height from sea level to the top of the blade of 225 metres, the wind turbines will be the largest and the most powerful units ever to be installed on an offshore wind farm.

Located some 20 kilometres off the Dutch province of Zuid-Holland, the Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm zone occupies an area of 235.8 square kilometres, where Vattenfall, together with BASF , is building what will become the largest operating offshore wind farm once commissioned in the summer of 2023.
The wind farm will comprise 140 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines and two offshore substations .
Prior to mobilising for the Hollandse Kust Zuid, Wind Osprey was deployed on the 1.1 GW Seagreen wind farm project offshore Scotland.
AIS data shows that Wind Osprey’s sister vessel, Wind Orca , is currently at Able Seaton Port in Hartlepool, UK, Vestas’ turbine marshalling base for the Seagreen project.
