GE Renewable Energy (GE) has selected Denmark-based Global Wind Service (GWS) for 50 per cent of the service and maintenance scope at the Saint-Nazaire wind farm offshore France.
Under the agreement, GWS will perform planned maintenance, including brake-in and annual maintenance along with corrective maintenance tasks such as troubleshooting and unplanned service.
The service and maintenance tasks will run throughout 2022 and 2023.
This move followed after GE selected GWS as a partner for the load-out and installation of 80 GE Haliade 150-6 MW wind turbines at the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm.
Last month, GWS announced the opening of a new business unit in France to support its clients and the French offshore wind market, the company said.
On 7 April, Jan De Nul’s jack-up Vole au vent sailed out of the Nantes-Saint Nazaire Port loaded with the first four sets of offshore wind turbines for the first commercial-scale offshore wind farm in France, being built between 12 and 20 kilometres off the coast of the Guérande peninsula.

A few days later , the first of 80 GE Haliade 6 MW units was installed at the 480 MW Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm.
Saint-Nazaire is owned and developed by Eolien Maritime France (EMF), a consortium of EDF Renouvelables, Enbridge, and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
The wind farm is scheduled to be commissioned in 2022.
