The 30 MW offshore wind farm, also known as Taranto, is developer by Renexia and represents the first project of this kind to be built and put into operation in the Mediterranean.

The first of its ten wind turbines was installed at the project site in February and all MingYang Smart Energy 3 MW units were in place and operational in late April.

Van Oord’s MPI Offshore was in charge of the installation of the wind farm’s foundations and turbines.

Located in Italy’s Apulia Region near the Taranto harbour, the 30 MW offshore wind farm will provide about 55,600 MWh of electricity per year, enough to meet the demand of around 18,500 households.
