Vestas has been contracted by EolMed project consortium which consists of Qair, TotalEnergies, and BW Ideol to deliver three V164-10.0 MW wind turbines for the 30 MW floating wind project offshore France.
Under the contract, the Danish wind turbine manufacturer will supply, transport, and supervise the installation and commissioning of the three V164-10.0 MW units.
The turbines will be installed on BW Ideol’s Damping Pool floating foundations in Port-la Nouvelle and towed to their final location some 18 kilometres off the coast of Gruissan in the Mediterranean Sea, where they will be anchored to the seabed in water depths of around 60 metres.
Turbine delivery and commissioning are planned to start by the first half of 2024.
The project also includes an Active Output Management (AOM 5000) agreement for the maintenance and service of the floating wind project over the next 15 years.
The EolMed floating offshore wind project recently reached a financial close after the partners secured EUR 85 million in financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB).

Bureau Veritas is responsible for the certification of the project while Bourbon will deliver EolMed offshore infrastructure including a floating electrical hub, inter-array cables as well as anchoring and mooring systems.
The Mediterranean Sea pilot wind farm is set to become one of the first three floating offshore wind farms in France when it is commissioned in mid-2024.
