This month, a floating LiDAR and metocean instrumentation will be deployed at the Muir Mhòr floating wind farm site and a metocean system will also be installed at the offshore site of the Caledonia bottom-fixed wind project, both in Scottish waters.
At the Muir Mhòr site (initially named Mara Mhòr), developed by Fred. Olsen Seawind and Vattenfall, metocean instrumentation and a floating LiDAR system are planned for deployment by Green Rebel from the Port of Aberdeen sometime after 16 December.
The metocean buoy at the Caledonia offshore wind farm site, developed by Ocean Winds, is anticipated to be deployed between the 13 and 21 December, subject to weather conditions, and will remain in situ until May 2023.
The updates shortly follow the news that a floating LiDAR was deployed at the Buchan floating wind project site in Scotland, developed by Floating Energy Allyance (FEA).
All projects have been selected in the ScotWind seabed leasing round earlier this year.
Fred. Olsen Seawind and Vattenfall’s Muir Mhòr project will be built at a location 67 kilometres off the east coast of Scotland and will have a capacity of up to 798 MW.
Ocean Winds’ Caledonia project is planned to have a capacity of 2 GW and occupy a 429-square-kilometre site in the Moray Firth.
