Ramboll Names South Korea Country Director

Ramboll has appointed Inho Cho as Country Director for the new office in Seoul, South Korea, which the company opened in 2022.

With the appointment of Inho Cho as Country Director, Ramboll brings in a well-regarded senior expert, the company said.

Prior to joining Ramboll, he held various senior positions in technical sales and marketing at Samsung Heavy Industries. He has intensive international experience from postings in the US, the UK, Germany, Norway, and Greece.

The Seoul office marks the second office in the APAC region for Ramboll’s wind division, after setting up an office in Tokyo, Japan, in 2022.

South Korea’s Government is committed to reaching net-zero by 2050 and reducing greenhouse emissions by 40 per cent by 2030. South Korea plans to deploy 12 GW of offshore energy by 2030 as part of the country’s Green New Deal.

Ramboll has already started to work with local and global clients on a number of multidisciplinary projects in South Korea, including feasibility and conceptual studies for turbines and OSS foundations, environmental impact assessment studies, and site conditions assessments.

“We will see a dramatic shift in South Korea’s energy sourcing over the next decade, with offshore wind being one of the key enablers. The country’s economy is driven by the heavy industries sector which accounts for more than 60% of South Korea’s final energy use”, said Inho Cho.

“Currently, we rely heavily on imported fossil fuels but this has to change. I am very excited to be part of that journey and leveraging Ramboll’s more than 30 years of experience in offshore wind.”
