Deme and Allseas have installed the offshore substation at the 496 MW îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier offshore wind farm in France.
Deme installed the pin piles for the jacket foundation and transported the jacket and the topside to the project site. Once at the offshore site, the jacket and the topside were transferred to Allseas’ vessel Pioneering Spirit for installation with its 5000-tonne crane.

Designed and manufactured in Saint-Nazaire by Atlantique Offshore, the substation measures 39 metres in length, 25.5 metres in width, and 18 metres in height. The substation will centralize the electricity produced by the wind farm’s wind turbines and transform it to send it to land via two submarine cables then underground to the electrical substation located in Gué au Roux.
Apart from the substation, Deme’s scope of the project also includes the transport and installation of the foundations and the wind turbines.
Earlier this month, Innovation installed the first of the 61 foundations at the site located off the coast of Vendée, 11.6 kilometres from the island of Yeu and 16.5 kilometres from Noirmoutier. The completion of the foundation installation work is expected in early 2025.
The foundations will support 61 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines produced in Siemens Gamesa’s Le Havre facility.
îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier is being developed by Éoliennes en Mer des Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier (EMYN), a consortium including Ocean Winds (an ENGIE and EDPR joint venture), Sumitomo Corporation, La Banque des Territoires, and Vendée Energie.
